In addition to the information already presented I noted that the article includes information in the rise of use between 1970 and 1997 per capita. It explains the lowered circulation of leptin and insulin after the consumption of fructose in comparison to other types of carbohydrates and how this can affects body weight.

Insulin and leptin are both hormones that are triggered after the consumption or foods or beverages containing carbohydrates such as sucrose, glucose, fructose. The release of these hormones varies with the consumption of fructose then other carbohydrates.
